Description:Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland has served children since 1912, when an Alameda County nurse and a group of Bay Area women achieved their goal of opening the first hospital in Northern California to care for babies exclusively. The hospital has since expanded its services to become a 190-bed regional and global resource for advanced pediatric care, research and medical education. With more than 200,000 total patient visits each year, the center boasts expertise in 31 pediatric sub-specialties and a staff of about 2,500 professionals. It is one of the largest designated level 1 pediatric trauma centers in Northern California.
