Description:John Muir Medical Center’s 321-bed acute-care facility acts as the only trauma center for Contra Costa County. The facility, which opened in 1965, specializes in high- and low-risk obstetrics, orthopedics, neurosciences, cardiac care and cancer care. The medical center is included in the John Muir Physician Network, a nonprofit medical foundation formed in 1997 when the Walnut Creek center merged with the John Muir Medical Center campus in Concord.
